Some key metrics to watch for to ensure your nails are to code

3¼″ Power-Tool Driven Coil or Strip Framing  Nails

  • 📏 Length: 3¼″ ± 3⁄32″ (82.55 mm ± 2.38 mm)

  • ⚙️ Shank Diameter: 0.120″ ± 0.004″

  • 🪛 Shank Type: Smooth or deformed (ring, screw, spiral)

  • 🔩 Head: Altered round or T-head (must fit tool magazine)

  • ✒️ Point: Diamond or chisel (per purchaser spec)

  • 🧲 Material: Carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy

  • 🧪 Ductility: Bend test per ASTM F680 (180° for unhardened, 20° for hardened)

  • 🎨 Finish: Bright, zinc-coated (A641/A153), mechanical zinc (B695), or HDG (A153)

  • ✅ Workmanship: Straight, clean, burr-free, uniform collation

  • 🏷️ Marking: Package must show spec, size, shank, material, finish, and count
